In 1956 Ruhani Satsang India published this collection of short writings by Western disciples, which has long been out of print. It captures memories of how people came to the Path of the Masters in the 1950s – and their impressions upon meeting Master Kirpal Singh during the 1955 tour.
Through both the stories that are told and the idiom of the era, the accounts in the booklet carry the reader back to those early days. Just as the late 19th century saw the introduction of spiritual teachings from India through Swami Vivekananda and his brother monks, so the early to mid-20th century witnessed the growth of movements such as Yogananda’s Self-Realization Fellowship and the teachings of I AM. Many of Master Kirpal’s early disciples arrived by way of these spiritual stepping-stones, and their recollections bear the imprint of the language and outlook of their time.
